The aim of the project is to approach the idea of the “residence” from the Aristotelian perspective of “using” rather than “owning”. Within this framework, the designers propose the idea of buying online the right to use a house anywhere around the world rather than owning one at a certain location. They created a transformable structure with all the spatial properties and requirements of a contemporary residence. The concept involves ordering the product online, customizing it through an expanded catalogue of options, and then occupying it globally. A questionnaire serves as a platform for prospective buyers to communicate their preferences regarding the house’s dimensions, its contents and facilities, along with a variety of options regarding orientation, light and environmental factors. There is also provision for accommodating visitors or pets, as well as for adding an extension to the house unit. The house is shipped to the registered address ready to open up and adjust automatically to the pre-selected settings. It facilitates the basic needs of a visitor-resident (sleeping, cooking, eating, working, socialising, relaxing and hygiene) through an ergonomic synthesis that is able to transform the interior configurations and balance the spatial relationships between the respective spaces. The house is made of a steel frame structure with wooden cladding, while the exterior skin is made of Suspended Particle Polymers, which are responsible for the degree of transparency and reflectivity of light. It can function autonomously, regarding energy production and consumption. When it is not used, it automatically enters a storage state where everything collapses within a minimum volume.
